I founded Confections by Katharine in the spring of 2021. During the covid pandemic, baking for my family became a way to fill my creative outlet and break up the monotony of online school days. I spent endless hours in the kitchen perfecting my favorite recipes, honing my decorating skills, and cleaning up sprinkles from the kitchen floor.
With my passion for customizing and decorating cakes, Confections by Katharine was launched. My first customer ordered a birthday cake for her daughter who loved sewing and fashion design. My favorite part of the process is creating decorations that make a cake special for each customer.
As schools struggled to stay open during the pandemic, I learned about the growing issue of child hunger in the United States. Today, 1 in 6 kids is at risk of hunger in our country. I hope to make a small difference by donating 50% of my profits to No Kid Hungry, a not-for-profit dedicated to fighting child hunger. The price of 1 cake can help provide up to 500 meals for children.
Each purchase ultimately helps feed hungry children in America.
